KITSAP COUNTY, WA — Kitsap Public Health District has launched a campaign to increase awareness of the risk from opioid drugs like fentanyl and strategies to prevent opioid overdoses.
Opioid misuse and drug overdoses continue to have a tragic impact in Kitsap County and throughout the United States. From 2020 through 2024, about 240 Kitsap County residents lost their lives to opioid overdoses.
As one strategy to respond to the opioid crisis, Kitsap Public Health developed a Kitsap Friends For Life awareness and information campaign with support from the Washington State Health Care Authority and funding from the Washington State Department of Health.
Messages displayed throughout Kitsap County and online encourage Kitsap residents to:
Talk to teens about risks of using opioid drugs, including fentanyl. Find tips for getting the conversation started.
Carry naloxone, a medication that can reverse opioid overdoses. View a guide for finding naloxone in Kitsap County.
