The major types and sources of pollution that affect Kitsap County's water quality are:

    • Failing septic and sewer systems;
    • Faulty stormwater systems;
    • Pet and livestock waste;
    • Runoff from farms.
  • Sediments from soil erosion, from improper land clearing, logging and construction;
  • Chemicals, oil, toxins, and metals from residential or commercial storm-water runoff, spills, or illegal dumping.
